Team work in a dialysis unit

The multidisciplinary dialysis centre

The dialysis unit is led by one or more consultant nephrologists and a clinic manager, responsible for the clinical management of patients. Each treatment shift is supervised by experienced nurses with appropriate staffing for the patients being treated. The care of patients is delivered by renal nurses, dialysis associates and healthcare assistants. The dialysis unit also has additional administrative and technical support.

A multidisciplinary monthly quality assurance meeting is organised and is led by the consultant nephrologist and clinic manager or senior clinic staff. The purpose of this meeting is to review the overall results and ensure the highest quality care is provided to individual patients. Such meetings improve communication and creates a collaborative approach to the care patient’s receive in our dialysis unit.

Fresenius Medical Care’s clinical and operational quality standards are overseen by a Director of Nursing and Medical Director, supported by a team of senior nursing staff.
